The abit A-S78H motherboard is a micro-ATX model powered by the AMD 780G/SB700 chipset, and it supports all AMD AM2+/AM2 Phenom, Athlon 64 X2, Athlon 64 and Sempron processors (AM2+ runs HT3.0 5200MT/s, AM2 runs HT1.0 2000MT/S). This is the mainstream value part of the 700-series of AMD chipsets, which also includes the 790GC, 790X and 790FX performance models. But its feature set is still high-end, offering four 240-pin DIMM sockets with a maximum dual-channel memory capacity of 8GB running at DDR2-1066/800/667, support for SATA RAID 0/ 1/ 0+1, and PCI Express 2.0 graphics.
The integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics is another major selling point, as this not only provides the fastest entry-level gaming performance, equivalent to a same-speed Radeon HD 3450, but also supports multi-GPU, Hybrid CrossFireX Technology using ATI HD 2400 XT, HD 2400 Pro, HD 3470 and HD 3450 video cards. This ability to enable both integrated and discrete graphics to work in CrossFireX mode is a cost effective method of upgrading entry-level AMD platforms. The integrated HD 3200 graphics core also supports DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0, the ATI UVD (Unified Video Decoder), and SurroundView Technology for up to 4 monitors. The A-S78H motherboard features a 1 x PCI-E x16, 1 x PCI-E x1, and 2 x PCI slot layout, while featuring 6xSATA 3.0Gb/s connectors, Hyper Transport 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, 5.1-Channel HD audio, 4 x USB 2.0, and all the standard abit tweaking options through its SoftMenu BIOS program. The A-S78H motherboard is available now, but abit has yet to announce pricing.
